Vivendi’s Canal+ Overseas plans to acquire Mediaserv

Investment

Vivendi’s unit Canal+ Overseas told the French regulator that it plans to acquire Caribbean internet service provider Mediaserv. Mediaserv is the holding company for Mediacall, Guyane Numérique, Martinique Numérique and Réunion Numérique. These are currently 100% owned by Groupe Loret vehicle Loret Telecom. Groupe Loret will remain a minority shareholder after the transaction is complete.

Canal+ Overseas offers the services of Canal+ and Canasat in French overseas territories, Africa and Poland (Cyfra+). Canal+ Overseas ranks as France’s third largest satellite TV operator with 700,000 subscribers and a 35% share in the markets where it operates.

The purchase of a 51% stake in Mediaserv was announced in July 2013 by Canal+ Overseas and the Loret Group. They hope to finalise the deal by year-end.
