Africa can watch the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Game on any device

For those who subscribe to cable and satellite providers participating in coverage of the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games, streaming events to any device will be possible.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has awarded SuperSport International the broadcast rights for South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa. This will include pay satellite television, as well as internet and mobile platforms.

NBCUniversal will broadcast the Winter Olympic Games to American viewers across the company's various platforms, namely NBC Sports Network, NBC, USA Network, MSNBC, and CNBC. NBC will be live streaming every phase of competition but the service will only be available to existing cable subscribers.

DStv Premium subscribers in South Africa and the rest of Africa will need to register on the Supersport website using their smart-card number and will have to be streaming from a computer in sub-Saharan Africa to access the footage.

US Subscribers of Xfinity, Time Warner Cable, Direct TV, Dish, Verizon FIOS, COX, Charter, AT&T U-verse, Optimum, Suddenlink, Mediacom, Cable One, WoW!, Brighthouse, and RCN, among many others, will be able to stream the event online via the NBC Olympics website after verifying an existing subscription and setting up a username and password.

Streaming can be accessed via the SuperSport app, available for free on iPhone and iPad from Apple's App Store and on Android devices from the Google Play store. Live match video is limited to DStv Premium subscribers in sub-Saharan Africa and surrounding islands and video is not available on Android 2.3.

The NBC Sports Live Extra app will be streaming games live and is available for free on iPhone and iPad from Apple's App Store, on Android devices running version 2.3 or higher from the Google Play store, and from the Windows Phone Marketplace.
