Ghana, a country for filmmakers: Situated along the Gulf of Guinea in West Africa, Ghana is often referred to as the ‘Island of Peace’ and the ‘Land of Sunshine’. It is a country of rich cultural variety and fascinating historical heritage, with over 250 languages and dialects spoken nationwide. Popular filming destinations include Elmina and the Cape Coast colonial slave trade castles. Unique to Ghana are its tropical climate, white, sandy beaches and indigenous stilt villages. It also boasts the world’s largest artificial lake and Africa’s largest dam – Lake Volta.

Morgan Freeman, Vincent Cassel, and Olga Kurlyenko are attached to star in ‘Momentum,’ to be directed by longtime Clint Eastwood camera operator Stephen Campanelli. Anton Ernst (‘Little One’) is the South African producer. Variety says production starts in January on the film, which is about a thief (Kurlyenko) on the run from both the law and Cassell’s assassin gang.
In Senegal, the transition to DTT (Digital Terrestrial Television/TNT in French) was going to cost 65 billion CFA francs. This is the amount that StarTimes proposed to put on table as a country loan to support the transition. StarTimes was going to release 1.5 million set top boxes but things got a bit complicated. Today, the comitee in charge - Contan (Comité national de pilotage de la transition de l’Analogique vers le Numérique) – also pilotes the new telecoms licences and fibre optics infrastructure.
