Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) releases its first television advertisement - and it's entirely home-grown. From the production crew and actors through to the locations and voice over, the 30-second advertisement which is set to flight on national television in April, is a proudly Eastern Cape production. A Constellation of Stars came to South Africa for AMAA Nominations
On the 2nd of April, The Africa Film Academy hosted African filmmakers and celebrities during the 10th Africa Movie Academy Awards Nominations event which was held at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg. This gathering got the cream of African filmmakers. More at

Director of photography Carlos Carvalho has won the Haskell Wexler Award for Best Cinematography at the 14th annual Woodstock Film Festival Maverick Awards Gala held in New York for The Forgotten Kingdom, the first feature film produced in Lesotho. The Forgotten Kingdom, directed by Andrew Mudge, tells the story of Atang Mokoeyna, an unemployed young man who lives in Johannesburg and travels home to Lesotho, his ancestral land, to bury his estranged father. Once there, Atang is drawn to the magical beauty and hardships of the country and people he had left behind and forgotten. Full story here
