Project for an Arabic cultural television channel


The 22nd General Conference of ALECSO (Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization) was held from 27 to 29 May 2014 at its headquarters in Tunis. It was the opportunity to present the project of an Arabic cultural television channel which will be funded by the organization.

At a press conference at the headquarters of Alecso, its CEO, Abdallah Hamad Mouhareb said that "the new Arabic television channel will be broadcast in a first phase on the web ". Later, the channel will broadcast via satellite. He added that "some financial difficulties had hindered the diffusion process of the chain directly via satellite."

Founded in 1970, Alecso work in the framework of the League of Arab States. It is a specialized agency that is primarily concerned with the coordination and promotion of various activities related to education, culture and science in the Arab world.
