OSN launches VOD, DVR in Egypt

Technology & Convergence

Middle East pay-TV operator, OSN, supported by Cable Network Egypt has launched internet-enabled satellite receiver and recorder with full 3D and high definition (HD) capabilities in Egypt, in an attempt to counter content piracy.

OSN Plus HD provides a digital video recorder (DVR), allowing viewers to pause and record live television for the first time. The service also features video-on-demand (VOD) with premium movies, TV series and children’s entertainment.

“Egypt is set to become one of the largest and fastest growing markets for the television industry,” said David Butorac, CEO, OSN. “As home to some of the most powerful content, Egyptian television is an inspiration for all. The launch of OSN Plus HD is a strategic and long-term growth initiative of OSN in Egypt.”
