Vodafone & Irokotv launch video on demand services in Ghana

Technology & Convergence

Vodafone Ghana has signed a deal with Nollywood’s iROKOtv to launch VOD services in Ghana using its Fixed Broadband (FBB) service.

The deal aims to give users unlimited access to over 6,000 movies and TV shows present on iROKOtv as long as they sign up on Vodafone fixed broadband service which costs GH¢70/ month.

Julius Owusu-Kyerematen, Head of Strategy and Innovation at Vodafone Ghana said:“We are a customer driven organisation, committed to opening up this fascinating world of information and digitisation to our customers. IROKOtv is another avenue to further demonstrate our leadership in innovation and customer experience”.

Just recently, iROKOtv partnered with Tigo Rwanda to launch both 4G internet service and VOD services to homes and offices throught the city. Courting telcos might be iROKOtv’s biggest saviour to prevent MTN’s FrontRow from eating into its market. Telcos will as well help iROKOtv expand into as many countries and homes as possible than if it was going to go on its own.
