Mozambique to launch international DTT tender

Technology & Convergence

The digitalisation process across Africa is ongoing. Focused in Mozambique, the DTT tender will be an international one, this time. The company bagging the contract, will have the task of financing and effectuating the project for the digitalisation process.

Although the process should have already been started, a re-assessment was considered before taking up a decision for the procurement rights of the project. The completion of the process is expected to be completed by the end of December this year.

Victor Mbebe, the chairperson of the public operator of the digital television network, TMT said: “Right now, we are working to comply with the rules for hiring services in Mozambique. Our hope is that we will conclude the process by the end of the year”.

Financed by the public and private entities, the pilot phase of the digital migration process has cost around 3.5 million USD. Eventually, the cost of the final project will be decided and declared once the company acquiring the contract will be known.
