South Africa: small price increase for Top TV

Prices for Top TVs packages will increase on 1 July 2011, the satellite pay TV operator has confirmed.

Top TV explained that the increase in pricing is an “inflationary adjustment which any business faces when dealing with rising operational costs.” The cost of content and other rising prices contributed to a rise in operational costs, Top TV said.

Top TV said that one should consider that they have managed to keep off this adjustment until month 14 of their operations.

On Digital Media (ODM) launched Top TV on 1 May 2010 and reported that by the end of December 2010 they had signed up 200,000 subscribers.

From 1 July 2011, Top TV subscription prices will change as follows:

•Variety, Kids & Music will be adjusted from R159 to R169
•Variety, Entertainment & Knowledge will be adjusted from R159 to R169
•Variety, Kids & Music, Entertainment & Knowledge will be adjusted from R189 to R199
•Variety, Kids & Music, Ultimate Movies will be adjusted from R219 to R239
•Variety, Entertainment & Knowledge, Ultimate Movies will be adjusted from R219 to R239
•Variety, Kids & Music, Entertainment & Knowledge, Ultimate Movies will be adjusted from R249 to R269
•Top Star will be adjusted from R60 to R69
