New date for Abuja digital switchover

The DG, NBC, Mall Is’haq Modibbo has met the Management of the Commission to update them on the present status of the Abuja DSO project.

While addressing the team, he noted that the Hon. Minister of Information & Culture, had graciously approved the 22ndDecember, 2016, for the official launch of the Abuja DSO project.

Giving an update on the local channels that would be on the platform, Mall Kawu pointed out that 3 local stations will be on the multiplex and at the moment, 20 channels were already on the Set-Top-Box. He also noted that the call centre for the DSO process, which has 30 agents to attend to Nigerians, who have queries concerning the Digital Switch over, has been sorted out.

The DG, NBC, reiterated that Abuja was very critical to the DSO process and the Commission must make the launch a very successful process. He added that “this period was a critical moment for the NBC”.

Mall Kawu pointed out that immediately after the Abuja rollout, the Commission was making out plans to cover 6 states in the six geopolitical zones of the country for the next phase of the rollout before the 2017 deadline.

Mall Kawu urged everyone to be on-board and work hard to ensure a successful launch.
