This May, AfriDocs presents powerful documentaries from Africa that shed light on some extraordinary people and events from across the continent. These film journeys will enlighten and inspire with stories of creativity, hope, and resilience in the face of often desperate situations.

Femi Kuti’s music and passion is explored in detail in Day by Day, while the story of Boy Dallas, a slum-dweller who becomes a radio personality, journalist and self-made cameraman is depicted in For Kibera.

Africa Shafted and the multi-award winning Miners Shot Down tell two very different stories from South Africa. The first is a tragic and yet hopeful story of life in downtown Johannesburg, whilst Rehad Desai’s Miners Shot Down tells the powerful and disturbing truth about the 34 miners killed by police in Marikana.
