DTT, payTV in Africa: GOtv Malawi (the DTT arm of group Naspers, South Africa) has embarked on a door to door campaign that will see the terrestrial digital service provider collecting subscription fees from customers in the comfort of their homes. The initiative will also include sensitising Malawians on some of the services offered by GOtv, reports BusinessMalawi. The campaign, christened ‘GOMmisili project’, will involve trained GOtv technicians visiting customers in their homes to collect subscriptions and educating them on how to deal with any technical challenges on their GOtv decoders.

GOtv Country Sales Manager Vyness Simbi said the campaign has been successful after its roll out in the Northern Region. Most of the challenges that appear on GOtv decoders are rectifiable through the GOtv self-service code *570# on the phone but most people are not familiar with it. Through this self-service facility, one can activate a new decoder, reconnect the decoder after paying subscription, rescan if other channels are not showing and remove any error codes, she said.
