First prizes for KFC in radio and Iziko Slave Lodge Museum in print led the way for another rewarding awards night for Ogilvy SA at the 2017 Creative Circle Ad of the Year. The much-lauded Slave Calendar from Geometry Global (WPP’s shopper marketing agency) - in partnership with Ogilvy Cape Town – received yet another accolade with its first prize in the print category. Ogilvy Cape Town delivered further with second place prize for Volkswagen work in Outdoor & OOH and third places for Amarok Social Test Drive and District Six Museum.

Vaya, a film directed by Akin Omotoso, a Nigerian living in South Africa and a South African production has been nominated in ten categories for the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) 2017. At a press conference addressed by the Academy Jurors on Sunday May 14th, 2017 at the Raddison Blu Hotel & Conference Centre in Kigali, Rwanda, the President of the Jury, Berni Goldblat, a Swiss citizen named Vaya, Queen of Katwe from Uganda, 93 and 76 both from Nigeria among films with higher number of nominations. This year, a total of thirty categories are up for grabs by Africa’s leading actors and film makers from the continent and the Diaspora. Al Jazeera Media Network is celebrating winning a total of five Gold World Medals, 14 Silver World Medals and seven Bronze Medals at the prestigious New York Film Festivals awards last month.
