Dreaming of bigger stars, a subsidiary of education business Curro, Stadio, has moved to acquire Africa’s top film school AFDA.

Stadio – which Curro intends to spin-off separately and list on the JSE – is seeking to take advantage of AFDA’s regional growth plans.

If AFDA adopts Curro’s so-far successful approach of rolling out over 100 schools, more top film productions could soon be coming out of the African continent.

Curro has grown from strength to strength as it recently reported that its headline earnings per share increased by 55% in the last financial year. It further plans to invest R2bn in growth, reported Fin24.
