Johannesburg, 12 July 2017: Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN), a division of Viacom (NASDAQ: VIAB, VIA), today announced key appointments for two of Viacom’s flagship brands: The Paramount Channel and BET International. Alex Okosi, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of VIMN Africa, will expand his role to include oversight of BET in all markets outside of the US.** Jill Offman has been promoted to Executive Vice President, and will add oversight of The Paramount Channel to her current role as Head of Comedy Central International and Managing Director of MTV UK and Comedy Central UK.   Both will report to David Lynn, President and CEO of VIMN.

In his expanded role, Okosi will manage the development and overall strategy for BET International. The driving force behind VIMN Africa, he will continue to oversee entertainment brands MTV Base, MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., NickToons, VH1 Classic and BET on the African continent. Under Okosi’s leadership, VIMN Africa has become one of Viacom’s fastest growing international operations driven by the expansion of its portfolio of brands on multiple platforms including pay-TV, FTA, internet, SVOD and mobile. Now in its thirteenth year, VIMN Africa delivers more channels to Africa than any other international network with a collective footprint that reaches 48 territories and more than 100 million viewers.

In her new role, Offman will direct the international brand strategy and development of The Paramount Channel, which debuted outside of the US in 2012 and has since grown to 12 channels available in 115 countries. She will continue to lead Comedy Central outside the US, where she oversees the creative vision and business strategy. Under her leadership, Comedy Central International has grown its share of viewing 7 percent year-over-year, and expanded its international footprint to nearly 200 million households in 145 countries. Offman is also Managing Director for Comedy Central UK and MTV UK. In this position, she leads the programming teams for both brands in this market, with responsibility for all the original commissions and acquisitions, as well as research, marketing, communications and creative.

2017 African Pride Awards takes over the Montcalm Hotel on Sunday, August 13

Following its seminal debut ceremony last July, which saw the likes of Wizkid, Fuse ODG, CEO Dancers and Anthony Joshua take home the biggest prizes of the night, having been voted for by over half a million people online, African Pride Awards is back for its second annual award gala and ceremony, proudly brought to you by Africa Unplugged and Therapy Ent.

Leading the award nominations this year are none other than Wizkid once again, Davido, Mr Eazi, Tekno, Yemi Alade, Shatta Wale, Tiwa Savage and Diamond Platnumz, who are all nominated for the ‘Artist Of The Year (Africa)’ award, with the likes of Maleek Berry, Sona, Moelogo, Eugy, Juls and Ms. Banks representing for the UK, in the ‘Artist Of The Year (UK)’ category.

African movie stars Funke Akindele, AY, John Dumelo, Nana Ama McBrown, Nomzamo Mbatha and Abraham Attah, will be vying for the ‘Outstanding Achievement In Film (Africa)’ award, while the likes of John Boyega, Idris Elba, Maria Gomez, Chucky Venn, and Daniel Kaluuya, are up against each other in the ‘Outstanding Achievement In Film (UK)’ award category.

Also nominated are Nqobile, Ezinne Asinugo, Sherri Silver and GOP Dancers in the ‘Dance/Choreography Of The Year’ category, as well as Bella Naija, Iroko TV, Linda Ikeji, Afrobeat360 and Factory 78, in the ‘African Online Entertainment Platform Of The Year’ category, and Abrantee, Twin B, Julie Adenuga, Maya Jama and Manny Norte, in the ‘Radio Personality Of The Year’ category.

African music legend Awilo Longomba will be honoured with the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’, while ‘Special Recognition Award’ nods will be presented to Ade Adepitan, SBTV, Link Up TV, GRM Daily, John Boyega, Larry Ekundayo, Eddie Kadi and The Compozers, who are also confirmed to be performing at the award ceremony.

Other award categories being announced via the African Pride Awards website include ‘Outstanding Media & PR Agency Of The Year’, ‘Makeup Artist Of The Year’, ‘African Club/Club Night of The Year’, ‘Event Organiser/Promoter Of The Year’, ‘TV Personality Of The Year’, ‘Radio Personality Of The Year’, ‘African TV Station Of The Year’, ‘Comedian Of The Year’ and ‘Outstanding Disk Jockey Of The Year’, just to mention a few.

Voting is now open to the public, with the first round of voting to end on July 30, and final public voting set to close on August 10. Winners will be announced at the main award gala and ceremony on August 13, 2017.

LONDON, UK, July 14, 2017 - Sony Pictures Television (SPT) today named Kunle Falodun as Vice President Distribution, Africa.

Reporting to Mark Young, Senior Vice President Distribution UK, Africa, Ireland and Iberia, Falodun will help drive SPT’s ambitions for the continent. Falodun moved into the newly-created post at the beginning of July and will be based out of the London office.

Falodun joins SPT from Econet Media, where he was Head of Business Development overseeing the distribution of Econet Media’s prime sports content on free to air television (Kwese Free TV) across Sub-Sahara Africa. Integral to the company’s strategy of identifying local partners across the continent, he was also instrumental in developing and establishing a working commercial model for Kwese Free Sports Channel.

Mark Young said: “Kunle has extensive knowledge of the African media landscape and has unrivalled experience across all areas of the business – including content, distribution, local production, marketing and acquisition. As we continue to ramp up our efforts across the continent, no-one is better placed than Kunle to spearhead our development in this region.”

Falodun said of his new appointment: “I look forward to this new challenge with great anticipation and expectation. Sony is a great company with truly world class products and I am really positive and excited about what we can do on the continent of Africa over the next few years.”

Falodun moved from Nigeria to the UK in 2004 as the Business Development Director of Optima Sports Management International (OSMI), managing broadcast operations and international broadcast rights. He later became Managing Director of OSMI UK, handling several high-profile media projects including the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cup tournaments, before moving to Econet Media in 2016.

Educated at the University of Ilorin in Nigeria, Falodun completed his MBA at the University of Bradford in the UK in 2012.
