Regulation & Policy

Angolan pay-TV distributor Zap has assured that its February price update complies with legal requirements and has appealed against the fine imposed by the country's regulator, reports Jornal de Angola. This follows the company's decision to increase the prices of the four channel packages by 40 percent from 26 February, without consulting consumer associations, a measure that the Angolan Communications Institute (Inacom) considered a violation of the law. According to Zap, negotiations are underway with the regulator to find a balanced and sustained solution. The company added that the appeal resulted in a suspension of the measures announced by the regulator, which consisted of a fine and reversal of the price update process.
