StarTimes ON Launches Pan Africa Online Film Festival

StarTimes ON has unveiled its Pan Africa Online Film Festival (PAOFF).

The festival was unveiled at an event, which took place recently at the National Art Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos.

Aimed at encouraging African local online film creation, the festival comes with several awards from a quarterly online film awards competition.

Open to all local professional film and music video producers, it is a dream come true for online film producers who have been anticipating a platform like this.

“It is an online age and local online video contents will be an important pillar of StarTimes ON’s content strategy that is why we organised the award,” Ariel Wang, Operation Director of StarTimes ON said in a statement.

Further, Wang said: “ we sincerely hope the awards competition will encourage the development of local online video creation and see the rise of African online video industry.”

To encourage transparency, StarTimes ON launched a fans voting system for all videos qualified for the awards competition. The voting system includes categories such as favourite film ranking board, favourite short film ranking board, favourite MV board.

The system will see all videos listed in the three boards ranked according to votes from StarTimes ON users, while the Producer of the video with the most votes from each board will get $1500 as prize.
