The El Gouna Film Festival (GFF) has revealed that it will host the premiere screening of The Knight & The Princess, Egypt’s first animated feature film, at its third edition in September.

The film’s script was written by Bashir al-Deek, who also took on the role of Director. The late cartoonist, Mostafa Hussein carried out the illustration work, and Haitham al-Khamisy composed the soundtracks.

Intishal Al Timimi, the Director of El Gouna Film Festival, commented on the announcement saying that the El Gouna Film Festival is proud to be showcasing the first Egyptian animation created by an Arab crew. He added that the film was a massive milestone for the Arab film industry.

The Producer of the film, Abbas Bin El-Abbas, said that Making The Knight & The Princess came with many challenges. He explained that the project had begun 20 years ago and faced various production hurdles along the way.

The Producer noted that the production team soldiered on and did not let the difficulties kill their determination. Abbas Bin El-Abbas added that the production is an Arab animated film that was created without depending on foreign input.
