African short video sharing platform VSKIT has announced a partnership with StarTimes, to host the maiden edition of ‘Voice to Fame’, the first dubbing competition in Nigeria, on 28 July. Eight contestants will compete against celebrities for a grand prize of NGN 2 million. Voice to Fame will feature the re-enactment of classic films and TV plays, rap battles and lip-sync, focusing on vocal delivery and demonstrative facial expressions.

Popular TV celebrities Charles Okocha, Nkechi Blessing, Mide Martins and Yakubu Mohammed will be competing against the new talents. The thirteen-episode series will have four contestants each week, and viewers will be able to vote for their favourite dubbing performance. Contestants with the highest votes will progress to the next stage, and the one with the fewest votes gets evicted.

Voice to Fame will be aired nationwide at prime time on Sundays on stations such as Orisun TV, NTA, ST Yoruba and Area10 TV at 20:00 hrs; ST Dadin Kowa at 21:00 hrs and many more Yoruba channels. The programme will run mainly in Pidgin English and Nigerian local dialects.
