The Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) on a content partnership that is directed towards ensuring a more coordinated approach to the prison system’s offender rehabilitation and reintegration processes.

Ziyambi Ziyambi, Zimbabwe’s Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, said that the MoU would boost ZPCS’ visibility and make the work of the organisation known to the public.

The Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa said that her office is impressed that the national broadcaster and ZPCS had collaborated and taken a direction that aligns with the ministry’s policy on behalf of the Government.

Minister Mutsvangwa said that ZBC has to be prepared to compete in a highly competitive broadcasting industry.

Retired Commissioner-General Major-General Paradzai Zimondi said that the ZPCS had improved offender rehabilitation by rolling out various activities and programmes.

He said that the prison system is always ready and willing to join forces with any organisation that wants to have a hand in making a difference in the lives of those incarcerated.

The event of the signing of the MoU was attended by the CEO of ZBC Patrick Mavhura and the Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services secretary Nick Mangwana among other senior officials.
