MultiChoice has revealed that it will be removing the British pay-TV channel ITV Choice (DStv 123) from its offering at the end of May after five years of broadcasting.

ITV Choice ceased broadcasting in August 2019 in many markets across the Middle East and Asia but had continued in South Africa.

Insiders told the media platform Channel24 that ITV Choice is getting axed from DStv. The channel also confirmed its removal from the MultiChoice line-up in a response to media enquiries and said that the ITV brand would continue as a video-on-demand (VOD) service in various other territories.

The axing of ITV Choice comes after the channel carriage negotiations between MultiChoice and A+E Networks UK in 2019 that first saw MultiChoice announce that it would be removing Lifetime, History and Crime+Investigation at the end of October 2019.

After renegotiations and a public petition by disgruntled DStv subscribers, MultiChoice kept Lifetime and History on its satellite TV platform but still dropped Crime+Investigation.

ITV's catalogue content will likely start to pop up on other TV channels once the shows that were originally packaged on ITV Choice become available through its global ITV Studios distribution.
