StarTimes ON Rolls Out Free Access To More Than 100 Channels During COVID-19 Lockdown

The pay-TV provider, StarTimes has opened up free access to more than 100 local and international channels on its streaming app, StarTimes ON during the global coronavirus lockdown.


The company is implementing various plans to help people who are working from home get access to timely and accurate COVID-19 updates via trusted news channels on the StarTimes ON platform.


The Brand and Marketing Director at StarTimes Uganda, Isma Lule, announced the company’s move to give free access on the streaming app.


He said that StarTimes is serious about contributing to making people safe during this difficult time.


The free channels include France 24, TVC News (Nigeria), KTN News (Kenya), Trace Mziki, DA Vinci and TV5 Monde.


Mr Lule also noted that subscribers would also enjoy both live and VOD content through the StarTimes ON app anytime and anywhere.


The sector regulator, Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has commended StarTimes for removing the charges on the app during these tough times.


Eng. Irene Kaggwa Sewankambo the Acting Executive Director of UCC said that this is a classic example of a policy-friendly product and service that is in the public interest.
