In an effort to encourage its subscribers to avoid cash-handling as a result of the threats that are posed by the coronavirus outbreak, the pay-TV Company StarTimes Media has introduced an online platform that will allow subscribers to renew their monthly subscription conveniently for their bouquet of choice.

Through the company’s StarTimes ON application, subscribers will now be able to download the application on the Google Play or Apple platforms and link their set-top boxes to the app to access the electronic wallet that will facilitate subscription payments through Co-operative, Mpesa, KCB Bank, Airtel Money or Equitel.

Subscribers who recharge their accounts using the online application will receive a 5% discount from their monthly subscription fee in addition to other self-service options including a change of bouquets and also a review of their payment history for the pay-TV service.

The Regional Marketing Director at StarTimes, Aldrine Nsubuga said that this is a strategic effort to encourage subscribers to avoid exposure to the deadly coronavirus through cash-handling by ensuring access to support services in the comfort of their homes. Nsubuga added that the new OTT customer self-service would enable subscribers to save costs while accessing informative, entertaining and educational content.
