Nigerian subscribers under the aegis of the Association of Telephone, Cable TV and Internet Subscribers (ATCIS) have rejected the proposed hike in the monthly pay-TV subscription during the coronavirus pandemic, The Punch reported. In a letter to MultiChoice, the group has expressed displeasure at the plan to increase the monthly DStv/GOtv tariff in Nigeria from 01 June.

The letter signed by ATCIS national president Adesina Bilesanmi and secretary to the board of trustees Loris Anger said it was inaccurate to introduce a new tariff based on the new value added tax of 7.5 percent. According to the group, VAT at 5 percent was already included in the previous tariff plan, and the increment should only be based on the additional 2.5 percent.
