Regulation & Policy

In Nigeria, the National Broadcasting Commission (the agency that regulates its broadcast media industry) has issued a warning against unwholesome free satellite transmission in the country.

According to a statement, the commission said it has, in recent times, observed a surge in the transmission of authorised Free-To-Air satellite signals into Nigeria. Some of these are broadcasting content in violation on the National broadcasting code.

The NBC, therefore, wish to remind all operators and users of satellite broadcasting in Nigeria of the stipulations and obligations of the media laws in Nigeria.

The commission also reiterated the adherence to the regulation that all broadcasters transmitting free-to-air Satelite services must encrypt the signals on their platform.
