Stockbrokers began full remote on-line system of trading on the Nigerian Stock Exchange last, thus placing the Exchange ahead of its peers in Africa in terms of technological development.

The full remote trading would complement the successful upgrade of facilities of the Automated Trading System (ATS) done last year. Already, experts from Canada have come in to interconnect the ATS with the Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) to facilitate the remote trading system.

Mr Mike Salik and Mr Ardel Halin, computer operations experts were introduced to stockbrokers by the Director General of the Exchange, Dr. (Mrs.) Ndi Okereke-Onyiuke on Thursday.

She explained that with the full remote trading, stockbrokers could now trade on-line from anywhere all over the world and the incidence of fraud would be reduced.
