- Algeria’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research assigned Continuing Education University (UFC) to post on the Internet 30% of universities pedagogical materiel to provide “a data bank for those students who cannot attend lectures.”

- South Africa’s ISP MWEB announced that it has successfully completed its WiMax rollout in Soweto. The rapid deployment of the technology was achieved with 100 residents being connected in seven days in various suburbs within Soweto.
