* The government of Chad has confirmed that it has sold a 60% stake in Societe des Telecommunications de Tchad (SOTEL) to a UK based company, Mid Cost. Citing authoritative sources, the APA news agency further confirms that the state will retain a 33% stake in the company while the remaining 7% stake will be given to employees. The amount paid for the company has not been disclosed. Under the terms of the contract, the British firm will build a new headquarters building for SOTEL.

* Most mobile phone subscribers in Mozambique have found it impossible to send any text messages since Monday, but both mobile phone companies, Mcel and Vodacom, insist that they are doing their utmost to restore the messaging service.
