- The Digital Media and Marketing Association (DMMA)’s traffic measurement partner Effective Measure recently released their July 2011 website statistics. The Effective Measure statistics rank websites according to South African (African) and Total traffic. According to the July 2011 statistics, News24 attracted the most total unique visitors, followed by Howzit.MSN and BBC.com. The top 5 is completed by IOL and TimesLive. When looking at South African (African) traffic only, Howzit.MSN reigned supreme, followed by News24, IOL, Vodacom and Junkmail.
- Nigeria - Imo state government has unveiled an online interactive forum through which Imo people at home and Diaspora can interact directly with Governor Rochas Okorocha on the policies and programmes of his administration. Senior Special Assistant Media to the governor, Mr Chinedu Offor who disclosed this to journalists at an interactive session stated that the feature with the title "Ask the Governor" is a part of a new initiative through which Okorocha feels the pulse of the people through unfiltered questions while he also gives a direct response to the people on any issue concerning his administration.
- Uganda’s State Minister for Information and Communications Technology, Hon. Thembo Nyombi officiated at the launch of a new web portal, Uganda Goes Online (UGO). The portal hosts links to websites of all major service providers in the country, with RSS feeds of news from various sources, both local and international. Click here to view.
