In Kenya, the High Court has nullified the appointment of Communications Commission of Kenya Director General Charles Njoroge. Issuing the temporary orders Wednesday, High Court judge Justice David Maraga also directed the CCK Board to appoint an acting director general. The order will stay in place pending the hearing and determination of a case filed by the Consumer Federation of Kenya (Cofek). In its suit, Cofek says that Information minister Samuel Poghisio decision to appoint Mr Njoroge was in contravention of the Constitution. It also avers that the appointment was flawed on grounds that the Board had declined to renew the term of the director general.
