* Support to Enhance the Competitiveness of Kenya’s Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) Sector

The Kenya ICT Board has requested the Commonwealth Secretariat for assistance to develop a capacity development strategy for the country’s Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) sector. The request follows an assessment of Kenya’s professional services sector, which identified BPO as one of the services with potential for growth.

Kenya’s Vision 2030 aims to transform the country into “a newly-industrialising, middle income country providing a high quality of life to all its citizens in a clean and secure environment”. Vision 2030 further outlines the challenges to be overcome if this vision is to be realized, including the need to improve basic infrastructure, a poor incentive framework and the limited talent pool and supplier base. The vision for the BPO sector in Kenya is to become one of the top 3 BPO destinations in Africa.
