- Following the India-Africa Science and Technology Ministers conference it was announce that India had set aside a US$5 billion facility for the development of science and technology in Africa. Speaking to journalists the Zimbabwean Technology Minister Dzinotyiwei said the money was going to be disbursed to African countries as loans and grants. He said the conference reaffirmed the need to identify small and medium scale technologies in selected areas where India could co-operate with Africa.
