- South Sudan’s Ministry of Telecommunication and Postal Services has asked mobile subscribers of the newly independent country to register their details, in line with a resolution passed by the cabinet in June 2011. Sudan’s mobile operators – Kuwait-based Zain, South Africa’s MTN and local firm Sudatel – began dividing their operations into two units after the South gained independence in July 2011, but have yet to agree a licence fee with the new country.

- Cellcom Telecommunications, Inc., the only provider of 4G Mobile broadband wireless access networks in Liberia, has announced that the Liberian National Police (LNP) has selected Cellcom’s network to provide its voice and data services. Cellcom and the LNP signed a two-year agreement for the telecommunications provider to provide telecommunications services for law enforcement purposes.
