Morocco’s Inwi to extend postpaid services, top-ups


Moroccan telecom operator Inwi announced that it has launched a new modular service range to allow users to choose the option that suits their needs instead of having to pay for services they are not using.

The move is seen as a positive step in the Moroccan mobile sector, which has been hit with uncertainty since France Telecom announced it was investigating whether or not to sell off its Orange brand in the country.

“The service is designed to encourage prepaid users to move to affordable postpaid. Starting at MAD 88 a month, the Kibghit plans can come without a handset,” the company said in a statement announcing the new payment options.

“Sim-only services and plans with no mobile Internet are offered, with top-ups benefitting from the same double and triple bonuses as the Tic-Tac prepaid service with per-second billing. Customers can add and remove options at any time during the length of their two-year contract,” it added.

With mobile penetration on the rise in Morocco, delivering new payment options to customers is a goal for all the country’s operators, where Moroccans have the mobility to choose their plans without fear of paying more for services that they cannot, or are not using.

Experts believe it will help rural areas enter the overall market in the country.
