- The leading telecom operator in Ghana, MTN has announced it is investing a total of GH¢105 million to expand and upgrade its network in order to deliver quality services to Ghanaians.
- Rwanda's telecoms regulator has warned that unregistered SIM cards will be disconnected if the users identity is not provided to the mobile networks by the end of this July. The warning was issued mainly to the diaspora community who live outside the country and may not be able to return in time to get their details registered. The affected people are thought to be mainly students studying abroad, diplomats and members of the business community.
- Uganda's MTN has doubled its mobile download speed to a theoretical peak rate of 42Mbps.
- Namibia's MTC has announced plans to expand its LTE network outside the capital city to other major cities by this May.
