- The number of mobile phone customers in Botswana reached 3.08 million at the end of December 2012, an increase of 5.5% from 2.92 million at the start of the year, according to a report by Mmegi Online, which cites statistics from the Botswana Communications Regulatory Authority (BOCRA). Meanwhile, total fixed lines in service, provided by BTC, totalled around 160,500 last year, according to the report.

- The Swaziland Posts and Telecommunications Corporation (SPTC) is likely to see its power to regulate the country’s telecoms sector stripped, following the passing of the long-awaited Communications Commission Act.
