Morocco: Inwi launches pilot Wi-Fi service in El Jadida
Moroccan network operator Inwi (Wana) has launched a pilot outdoor Wi-Fi service in El Jadida, one of the largest cities in Morocco. The free ‘Wifi7dak’ service is said to be complementary to 3G, 4G and traditional Wi-Fi networks, and will cover a large urban area. According to a press release posted on the operator’s website, the company pledged to deploy the technology in 2013, after the regulator
The National Agency of Telecommunications Regulation (ANRT) recommended an expansion of its wireless broadband coverage, thus making the services accessible to more of the population. Inwi also announced that more Wi-Fi hotspots will be added to the seaside areas in the following two months, with plans to cover the university and public administration neighbourhoods in early September 2013.
