Zambia: Africonnect Spreads Wings

Africonnect, a local internet service provider will spend about US$7 million to expand connectivity throughout the typically underserved regions of Zambia in the next 18 months.

AfriConnect managing director Matt Madzima said his firm was rapidly growing its businesses and was expected to spend between $5 million and $ 7 million to increase its flagship in six districts in the next 18 months.

Mr Madzima said the firm would be expand to Mkushi, Kapiri Mposhi, Nakonde, Monze and Kanzugula districts, as well as enhance its footprint in Northern Province.

In an interview in Lusaka last week, Madzima said AfriConnect focused on delivering high quality products and service to its customers throughout the 10 provinces.

Madzima said plans were underway to improve its network coverage in Northern Province, saying that its presence in the province had been weak.

AfriConnect offers wireless-based internet solutions throughout Zambia that are resilient to the environments in which they are deployed and quick and easy to install.
