Internet - In Brief
- The Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA) has teamed up with organisations to offer free Wi-Fi internet access in certain public spaces in Kigali. The initiative, called Smart Kigali, plans to modernise the lifestyle of the capital city's residents and visitors. Backers include the Ministry of Youth and ICT (MYICT), the City of Kigali, the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), RURA, the Rwanda Hotel and Restaurant Association and an unnamed telecoms operator. Rwanda's ICT ministry official told ITWeb Africa that free Wi-Fi has already been made available in certain public places including commercial buildings, bus stations, the airport, buses and cabs.
