- On October 10, 2013, Balancing Act attended the 2nd Edition of "IT AFRIQUE- Investissement & Innovation" on 10 Octobre 2013 at the Palais de Chaillot in Paris. The event gathered more than 120 IT and telecoms professionals, bringing together CIOs, experts, digital professionals, and policy makers. The following personalities attended: Bruno N. - Following a meeting between the Democratic Republic of Congo’s (DRC’s) regulatory authorities and Mamadou Kolabo, Airtel Africa’s head of regulatory policy, it has been reported that steps have been taken to produce a consultation document regarding the introduction of 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) licences in the country. Agence Ecofin reports that the consultation is expected to be made available to interested parties before the end of the year.
- Abidjan-based watchdog the Agence des Telecommunications de Cote d’Ivoire (ATCI) has announced that it has changed its name to the Autorite de Regulation des Telecommunications/TIC de Cote d’Ivoire (ARTCI). The decision was established by Decree No. 2012-293 dated 21 March 2012, which defined the terms of the merger between the Conseil des Telecommunications de Cote d’Ivoire (CTCI) and the ATCI. Going forward, the ARTCI will operate as an independent administrative authority with complete financial autonomy.
