- BICS, has enabled the first LTE roaming call to be made between Africa and Europe in the presence of HRH Princess Astrid, Princess of Belgium.
The video call took place during a state visit of Belgian dignitaries to Luanda, Angola, using local network Unitel and Belgium’s Proximus. It also marks the launch of LTE roaming services to customers of the Angolan operator.
- Kenya's Safaricom says that it reported 28 staff to the police over the past year for fraud related activities and issued warnings to 7 other employees.
- Algerian mobile operator Djezzy, a subsidiary of Orascom Telecom Algeria (OTA), has reportedly failed to obtain a re-conveyance from the Bank of Algeria, which is one of the key requirements behind the award of a 3G licence in the country.
