- Philip Tohme, the CEO of Algerian cellco Djezzy GSM, has said that the company will deploy commercial 3G services ‘during the month of Ramadan’, with the launch expected to take place on 27 June.

- Mobile operator Orange Mali has appealed to the country's Supreme Court to overturn a decision by telecom regulator AMRTP, Agence Ecofin reports. The regulator had fined the operator XOF 6.8 billion for using mobile technology and charging mobile service rates for its Douba fixed-line service, without prior authorisation from the regulator. The fine was then increased to XOF 11.4 billion when Orange Mali refused to comply with the decision. The AMRTP said the appeal process does not suspend its sanction.

- Uganda's Warid Telecom is suing Uganda Telecom for an alleged Sh1.9 billion (US$730,000) of unpaid international interconnection fees.
