Rwanda: MTN Rwanda Launches Cloud Computing Services
Through its Business General Manager Norman Munyampundu, the telecommunications giant announced that it would be offering cloud services to businesses in Rwanda and providing access to ICT services while helping them minimize their infrastructure costs.
He went on to add that this move would help the businesses share a common pool of resources and operate more efficiently.
The company announced that those that subscribed to the services would be able to pay via the MTN Mobile Money with the additional benefit of using some of the services for a free 30 to 60 day trial period.
The services provide automation tools that can be applied by all sorts of businesses including Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), professional services, micro finance and even health.
Cloud computing services have become incredibly popular with businesses all over the world. This is because of the ease in access to information on the go; in and out of the office. It also promotes sharing of documents, video and web conferencing, and even communication via instant messages in and out of the office; as long as one has access to internet connection.
There is also increased security as files stored on cloud cannot be stolen. This is due to the fact that they are stored offsite and sometimes in multiple locations. Cloud services also cost less because businesses do not have to invest in the purchase of hardware. There is also great value in terms of scalability, where businesses pay according to their needs and technology usage.
"MTN's new vision is to lead in the delivery of bold new digital services and the launch of Cloud Services demonstrates our commitment in realizing this vision. MTN Cloud Services will further enhance our offering and increase value for our customers, particularly those in trade and retail, and professional services sectors," Munyampundu added.
The cloud services include Cloud Collaboration, Cloud Backup, Cloud Customer Management and MozyPro for backup and efficient management of files and servers.
MTN Cloud Services are also available in other African countries like Uganda, Ghana, Nigeria, Zambia, Cameroon, Guinea Conakry, Cote d'Ivoire, South Africa and Swaziland.
