Mobilis is a leader in 3G in Algeria, says GSMA report

The World Association of mobile operators (GSMA) has released its report on telecommunications in Algeria. It reveals that the Mobilis branch mobile operator Algeria Telecom is the leader in 3G in the second quarter of 2014 with 395,049 subscribers to this new technology launched five months ago, on a target of 41,103,587 of subscribers to mobile, GSMA estimated 0.99% its penetration in the country.

In 2G Djezzy, remains the largest mobile operator in the country. The company has 17,722,901 subscribers, followed by Mobilis with 13,148,520 and finally Ooredoo with 10,232,166.

Average revenue per user (ARPU) is declining with 6.27 euro for the second quarter of 2014 up from 6.42 euro in the previous quarter. Of the more than 41 million mobile customers in the country, 36,810,550 are prepaid or nearly 90% of the mobile market, although this is more expensive than postpaid.

On the Internet side, GSMA predicts strong growth for the rest of the year, driven by mobile. Faced with 1.5 million ADSL lines, the 400,000 registered mobile users in six months seems like a success.
