Telecoms – In Brief

Moroccan telecoms watchdog, the Agence Nationale de Reglementation de Telecom (ANRT), has announced that the country’s long-anticipated auction for 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) mobile licences will be launched on 17 November 2014.

Russian-owned Yozma Timeturns, the mobile start-up which has been planning to launch services in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) since it was granted a licence in 2009, appears to finally be making moves towards a commercial debut. A report from online newspaper Le Potentiel claims Yozma Timeturns conducted ‘technical trials in the presence of vice president of the Regulatory Authority of Posts and Telecommunications (ARPTC) Kasindi Odon’ on 7 November.
