* The Minister of Information and Communications of Nigeria, John Odey, has just been elected the chairman of African ICT Ministers.

* Patrick Pisal Hamida has been appointed as the new CEO of telecommunication operator Telma in Madagascar.

* The Universal Service and Access Agency of SA (Usaasa) has suspended Keith Keyes after an internal audit "brought to light certain findings of financial irregularities and mismanagement".

* Four new board appointments, as well as one secondment to the position of deputy chairman, have brought the State IT Agency's (SITA's) board close to full capacity.

Parliament recently approved the appointments of the following individuals as non-executive directors of the SITA board: Saleem Badat, Mthunzi Luthuli, Mmamathe Makhekhe-Mokhuane, Colette Clark and Nosipho Malope. Michelle Williams, who had already been serving on the board, was seconded to the position of deputy chairman.
