Botswana’s beMobile invests USD9m in network upgrades
BTC Mobile, the cellular subsidiary of state-owned Botswana Telecommunications Corporation Ltd (BTCL) which trades under the name beMobile, says it invested BWP90 million (USD9 million) in its 2014/15 financial year to upgrade its networks.
Local news portal Mmegi quotes BTCL chief executive Paul Taylor as saying: ‘The investment is geared at improving customer experience. We not only added more sites but improved network capability to handle next generation technologies.’
Taylor added: ‘Significant investment is planned in our mobile networks for the year 2015/16 for further 3G enhancement and 4G mobile rollout.’
