Computing – In brief

South Africa: An investigation was underway on Wednesday after the department of arts and culture's website appeared to have been hacked. A self-styled Algerian 'hacktivist' group is believed to have claimed responsibility. "We are looking into it," said the department's communications director, Mack Lewele. The site,, is no longer accessible, but a Google search shows a message that reads, "Hacked by Admirale_Mouh... YOU'VE BEEN HACKED ISLAM HACKER ALGERIAN HACKER" followed by an Outlook e-mail address.
