Computing – In brief

Kenya: The Sh17 billion Digital Literacy Programme will be rolled out next week, ICT Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has said. This is despite skepticism from religious leaders and others about exposing children to the internet. "We will be monitoring what children  access online, and we ask you to do the same," Matiang'i said. He was speaking yesterday during the Kepsha conference at Sheikh Zayed Children Welfare Centre in Mombasa. Matiang'i said the programme will not replace teachers. "In fact, we will train more teachers to ensure effective services," he said.
