If I could turn back time… Yozma Timeturns expected to lose 2G licence
Non-operational Congolese cellco Yozma Timeturns is expected to be stripped of its 2G GSM licence – some seven years after being handed the concession. According to a report by local news site Le Potentiel, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) government has grown displeased with the company’s stuttering progress, and is keen to revoke the operating permit.
The Congolese mobile market contracted in April 2016 following the takeover of Tigo DRC by its smaller rival Orange DRC, and it seems likely that the authorities will now seek to boost competition by re-auctioning Yozma’s licence.
